6 service calls and two months later its still not repaired. We called Maytag to get it repaired since its under the 1 yr factory warranty and they sent an appliance service company they contract with to repair it. 5 months later the ice machine stopped working. Caveat Emptor if you are contemplating a Maytag appliance. I am not happy with the so called Maytag quality or their BS methods for providing service. I just hope that this time it will actually be someone who can fix the thing and not charge me just to refer me back to Maytag again. I then went back to the website and managed to get a service appointment in two weeks (had to wait for a Saturday appointment because I cant afford to take another day off work). I tried the Maytag 1 800 number which was a nightmare and it finally hung up on me. They were however more than happy to charge me $70.00 for a service call.
After checking the fridge they informed me that the problem was with the sealed system and that they could not work on it, and that I would need to contact Maytag to get a real Maytag repair person to come and fix the thing (right back where I started). I took a day off work to meet the service provider. I contacted the Maytag website and they recommended a local authorized repair firm. Now the thing has quit cooling all together. The ice maker has been leaking almost from day one and I need to clear out the ice from the bottom of the freezer every few weeks.
